At Anderson Center for Hair, we offer the benefit of cutting-edge research and state-of-the art technology balanced with science-driven, medically-rigorous methods and techniques. Because hair loss is a natural variant of the human condition and not a disease or defect, insurance will not cover the cost of restoring hair or preventing hair loss. But just because you have hair loss doesn't mean you have to simply accept going bald. These days, you have options.
Your first step in the process is to meet with our team in the office or virtually for a scalp evaluation and medical history review to rule out any underlying issues that could be causing your hair loss. The vast majority of patients qualify for all of our services, so the decision often becomes which method(s) will you choose to prevent future hair loss, and which, if any method you choose to restore hair that you've already lost. In cases where hair restoration surgery is the right choice, your surgeon will evaluate your scalp to determine how much hair you have available in your donor area versus how much hair you need in the recipient area. Then, he'll create a plan to restore as much hair as your head will provide without overharvesting, and also taking future potential hair loss into account. Whether you move forward with a restoration procedure or not, slowing or stopping future hair loss is key. Read more about our restoration methods and prevention options below:
The linear method, called Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT), remains the “Gold Standard” for hair restoration surgery. With the FUT method, your surgeon will remove a thin strip of follicles with a scalpel from the donor area on the back of the scalp. Next, our award-winning surgical team uses dissection microscopes to separate each individual graft from the others. The final result is a collection of individual hair follicles, ready for implantation one at-a-time. To close the incision on the scalp, our surgeons use a plastic surgery technique called a trichophytic closure. This method allows for a virtually undetectable scar and plenty of flexibility in hairstyles.
