Topical Finasteride Treatment

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a non-surgical hair loss treatment that uses laser light to help slow the rate of hair loss and stimulate cell growth. Using LLLT helps to combat hair loss and can potentially improve the volume and appearance of hair. And the great news is that therapy is painless and takes as little as 6 minutes per day.

Learn More About Topicals

Finasteride is an oral, prescription medication approved by the FDA under the brand name Proscar® and Propecia®. It’s FDA-approved for the treatment of BPH in men, and prescribed off-label for men with hair loss. Finasteride works as a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, limiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, and thereby reducing DHT circulating in the body and minimizing its effects on hair loss.

Recent studies have shown that applying finasteride as a topical medication instead of taking it orally could work just as well while reducing the fear of negative side effects. In fact, a 2020 review of 33 scientific articles on topical finasteride “showed positive results with a favorable safety profile,” and the authors believe additional research is warranted.

Oral finasteride is often prescribed at the same time and to be used with topical minoxidil. Evidence suggests the two medications work best when you use both, so doctors believe the same holds true for topical finasteride.

More research is needed to understand how and why these two medications work together, but so far research suggests that minoxidil works to increase absorption of topical finasteride, which leads to better results.

Dr. Anderson has worked extensively with a compounding pharmacy to develop several formulas that will support hair growth and decelerate the loss you might be experiencing.

Our Ingredients:

  • FINASTERIDE – Blocks the DHT in the scalp that is responsible for miniaturization
  • MELATONIN – The hormone helps increase hair growth
  • MINOXIDIL – Increases the blood flow when applied to the scalp and provides additional nutrients to help improve both density and the rate of growth.
  • RETINOIC ACID – Promotes cellular turnover in the skin and may promote vascular proliferation.
  • ESTRADIOL – Low estrogen levels can lead to thin and slow growing hair, by ensuing the optimal level of estrogen in the scalp you can increase the thickness and the rate of growth of hair.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is finasteride?

Finasteride was first developed as a treatment for benign prostate hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) but during clinical trials, researchers discovered that their patients seemed to stop losing hair and some men who were suffering from male pattern baldness even grew hair back. Finasteride is now sold as an oral medication (tablet) by prescription from your physician and as a topical medication, and is available in both brand name and generic forms.
