You may think this is a given, but it’s definitely not. The only thing required for a physician to offer hair transplant surgery tin the U.S. is a medical license. As a result, the vast majority of physicians who offer hair transplant surgery have NO surgery training in any specialty, NO hair restoration surgery training, and NO board certificates.

Many practices these days are just business offices with a surgery chair and a hair transplant sign on the door. Both Drs. Anderson and Lee are members of the Written Exam Writing Committee, and Dr. Anderson is a member of the Fellowship Training Committee for the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. For the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery Dr. Daniel Lee is on the Board of Directors, as well as a member of the Oral Examination Committee.

In 2009, Dr. Anderson founded the American Academy of Hair Restoration Surgery. Both Drs. Lee and Wetzel are graduates of the academy. More than 60 doctors from around the world have spent time at the academy learning about all aspects of hair transplant surgery, from the basics of hair loss to advanced FUE principles and techniques.

The surgeons at Anderson Center for Hair are hair restoration experts and industry leaders and regularly deliver scholarly lectures and presentations at scientific meetings to audiences of physicians and surgeons around the world. In 2023, Anderson surgeons were invited faculty members to scientific meetings in Atlanta, Las Vegas, Miami, and Nashville, as well as Romania and India. Large, multi-center hair transplant companies are generally owned and run by corporations where the main focus is profit. Bosley, one of the largest and well-known examples of this type of business, is owned by Aderans, a Japanese company whose primary focus is manufacturing wigs.
